I love photographing weddings at Terrain Gardens in Devon Yard. Especially when I have the privilege of working with incredible humans. Emily and Hunter met doing theater in college, with Emily starring in a production and Hunter designing the lights. They were together for eight years when Hunter proposed in 2022 at Schuylkill River Park, where they had their first date. Emily proposed back in their old neighborhood at Queen Village a month later.

When Emily and Hunter reached out about photography, they expressed how important it was to find a queer photographer. They wanted someone who could offer solidarity and better understand their identities. I was so touched by their level of thoughtfulness throughout the wedding planning process. Their vendor team was a reflection of their own kind-hearted nature.
As a queer, trans wedding photographer, it is so important to me to make wedding days feel more accommodating for marriers. Especially those who are marginalized. I never want marriers to worry about things like being misgendered. Or being encouraged to do poses that don’t align with their gender identity or gender expression. Wedding days are already a bit chaotic and can be stressful. I believe it’s our job as vendors to help relieve some of that anxiety and find ways to access joy and support marriers throughout all the feels.

The day was saturated with color, generosity, and an incredible attention to detail. Including the custom fragrances that were created for the marriers by Hunter’s sibling. Their dusk ceremony was cozy and memorable, with hot cider offered to guests as they entered. There’s something especially healing about scream singing “Pink Pony Club” with a group of queer guests at a wedding, especially after a week like this one.
Thank you to Emily and Hunter for having me. I had the very best time and am so grateful to know you. Terrain Events knocked it out of the park as always and were a pleasure to work alongside.
