Nikki + Maura | Awbury Arboretum, Philadelphia, PA
When Maura first reached out, her introduction had me swooning: “I’m a trapeze artist who writes freelance knitting patterns and Nikki is a librarian who plays guitar in a band.” She literally had me at hello.
Their love story is one of my favorites. They met in a small, crowded whiskey bar on bluegrass night and it was love at first sight. There’s so much depth to these two that was summarized beautifully by Tara Rubinstein from Journeys of the Heart during their ceremony.
A lot of their DIY wedding elements included the phrase “Warren House,” the name of the building they call home. After seeing some of their undertakings on Maura’s blog, The Projectory, I knew I’d be in for a treat. The countless hours of crafting and prep that happened at home made it a “Warren House Wedding.”
Nikki and Maura exchanged vows in front of the Francis Cope House at Awbury Arboretum in Philadelphia. This was my first time photographing a wedding at Awbury Arboretum and now it’s definitely on my list of favorite venues in the area. I mean, they have a secret garden for Pete’s sake.
A dream team of wedding vendors (along with the couples’ friends!) helped bring their vision to life — the space was beautifully covered in white, gold, coral, and mint.
I could write about their wedding all day, but I’m going to take a step back and try to let my photos do the storytelling. I adore these two immensely and I’m so grateful to have been there.
