Katie + Luke | Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia
Katie and Luke’s balmy, winter wedding was the very best way to wrap up my 2015 season. The only benefit of climate change is having 70-degree weather in the middle of December. Needless to say, their first look at Headhouse Square was perfect.
Their ceremony and reception took place at Fleisher Art Memorial, a community arts center that is high on my list of favorite venues in Philadelphia. The vibrant, paint-by-number-esque mural on the facade gets me. It really gets me. Also, it’s not often you get to stand high on a church pulpit, soaking in views of guests celebrating.
Katie’s brothers played “This Must Be the Place” on strings while they sang down the aisle before the ceremony. “Home, is where I want to be, but I guess I’m already there” echoed throughout the lofted ceilings. It was really something special.
I’m grateful to have worked alongside an awesome team, including Schleppers Philadelphia, Miss Rachel’s Pantry, True Beauty Marks, Emcee Elroy, and Chicory Florals, who put together elegant and romantic floral arrangements that made an already unique space shine.
I’m so happy for these two — they are such genuine souls who obviously love each other dearly. I can’t wait to photograph more love stories in the new year.
