I Do: Dawn + Karl | Adelphia Restaurant, Deptford Township
A few years ago, I began exchanging emails with Dawn and Karl because they were interested in meeting one of our foster dogs. I remember being frazzled on the way to the dog park because I was lost and had to keep calling them, thanks to my GPS sending me around New Jersey in circles.
Luckily, I had no reason to be nervous because they were the nicest, most thoughtful people ever. They ended up adopting Charsi (now Charley), who is now surrounded by an amazing, loving family.
Since our dog park date, it seemed like we were always celebrating each other’s exciting milestones. They left us the sweetest voicemail the night we got engaged. I soon watched their Facebook relationship status change to “engaged” and couldn’t have been more thrilled for them. I was already daydreaming about being their photographer, but I didn’t have to for long since I was one of the first phone calls they made (n’aww). I was honored that they wanted Pete and I by their sides as they became husband and wife.
All of the excitement leading up to their big day made it so surreal to photograph. They were getting married and nothing — not even a little stormy weather — could stop them.
Then came the tears. I am so lucky I get to hide behind a camera, because my pregnancy hormones can only take so many sweet moments between family and friends.
When Dawn’s father saw her in her dress for the first time? Blubber. A teary-eyed moment between the bride and her maid of honor in the final moments getting ready? Fogged-up glasses. A surprise anniversary dance for the bride’s parents, leaving Dawn’s tearful mom speechless? Totally lost my shit behind my camera.
These two are so perfect for each other and their wedding day made that abundantly clear. It’s crazy to think we probably never would’ve connected if it wasn’t for a sweet dog named Charley. But I’m so thankful we did ♥
