Miriam and Alexa met while working together in a nursing home. When COVID hit, they got to know each other outside of work. They quickly discovered they work well as a team. It was a joy to be introduced to both Miriam and Alexa for their Manayunk Brewing Company wedding.
Some of Alexa’s favorite things about Miriam are her positivity. And her constant need to make up songs about everything. Miriam loves Alexa’s goofiness. And that they bring out their “weirdness” in each other.
Queer Philadelphia wedding photographer
I was so excited to photograph their wedding day at Manayunk Brewing Company. The pouring rain cleared up just as their festivities began. The marriers got ready together before we went for a humid walk through the canal that immediately steamed up my glasses. We walked a bit down the Manayunk Canal Towpath and ventured into the neighborhood.
The pink flamingo sculpture by artist Frederick Prescott caught our attention outside of Chloe’s Corner on Main Street. The pinks of the steel sculpture contrasted with the saturated greens from the recent downpouring.
Philadelphia Murals
Manayunk has no shortage of vibrant murals, often created by Mural Arts Philadelphia. One of my favorites is the Greetings from Manayunk mural, which has bursts of oranges and purples (perfect when there’s a purple-haired bride). There are new murals being added to the area seasonally. I recommend checking out Manayunk’s website or the Mural Tours of Manayunk map for future updates.
If you’re a Philadelphia wedding photographer and want to scout murals for upcoming sessions, you can view the Philadelphia Mural Arts map here. Or if you’re recently engaged and looking for Philadelphia engagement photography inspiration, the map can likely provide some cool location ideas!
I had the best time getting to know Miriam and Alexa and reexploring the area I used to call home over a decade ago.
