Emily and Gracie kindly reached out about their LOVE Park wedding ceremony after seeing me featured in an article on The Knot about Autistic weddings. They’re a t4t couple who met online in Houston and have since moved to Philly. They love going on walks, reading, playing games, and watching long YouTube video essays.
We met up at an Airbnb in Rittenhouse for some relaxed games and fun before they got ready separately. They had their first look inside the townhome before we headed to Center City.
LOVE Park Wedding Ceremony
Emily and Gracie wanted to have a short, casual ceremony at LOVE Park. The Park offers Wedding Wednesdays to marriers on a first-come, first-served basis.
The ceremonies at LOVE Park take place rain or shine and include a 30-minute time slot for your ceremony. As well as an area in front of the LOVE sculpture reserved for the marriers and their guests. And an officiant from Journeys of the Heart (I highly recommend Naila Francis, who married my partner and I).
Marriers can reserve a LOVE Park wedding any Wednesday from March through October for $200, which doesn’t include the cost of a marriage license. Which is$90 for a regular marriage license or $100 for a self-uniting license. The City of Philadelphia offers a calendar with available dates and an email for folks to officially book a date online (lovepark@phila.gov).
Queer, Autistic wedding photographer
I’m so grateful Emily and Gracie found me when searching for a queer, Autistic-friendly photographer. It means a lot when folks want to connect to find a wedding vendor who acknowledges and understands their identities. And who wants to make the experience of getting married a safer, more affirming one. I had a blast getting to know them and frolicking around City Hall together. We gravitated toward all things rainbow colored, fountained, and sun flare-y.
