Colorful Handmade Wedding in the Philadelphia Area | Liza + Andy
It’s hard to not just jump into talking about Liza’s colorful handmade wedding dress, but I will try to contain myself.
It’s been an honor to get to know Liza and Andy, whose wedding at The Desmond Hotel in Malvern was as vibrant as their charming and hilarious personalities. When they first started dating eight years ago and were working at a theater in college, Andy tied a piece of tie-line on Liza’s wrist, which she kept on all of those years. During their portrait session, Liza took it off, which was a lovely moment that felt as symbolic as a ring exchange.
A Barbiecore wedding dress made by the bride
Liza is a bridal alteration seamstress and Andy is a videographer, so they were able to combine their superpowers to create an incredible gathering for their friends and family. They found ways to insert their interests–video games, movies, anime, and comics–into their celebration. Liza made their own bubblegum pink wedding dress, which was fabulous and blew me away–in addition to so many of the other DIY details. I loved how the pink and blue colors worked their way into the wedding naturally–I even wore pink and blue without realizing I’d be complementing the color scheme.
Their social hour had the most delicious foods (mashed potatoes! tater tots! sushi! bruschetta! mocktails with pomegranate popping bubbles!). Their reception was joyful and honestly hard to leave because everyone’s happiness was contagious on the dance floor.
