POTP Podcast Interview
Toward the end of this year, I put it out into the universe that I was going to be a guest on some of my favorite podcasts. I’ve been lucky enough to join three so far and look forward to continuing to have rich conversations with people who make navigating this life a less isolating experience.
Listen to the latest @pauseontheplay episode, “The Wedding Industrial Complex: Where is the Love in the Love Industry,” with co-hosts @theindiajackson and @ericacourdae.
We delve into the history of weddings and how they’ve evolved into a $72 billion industry. How industry norms dehumanize vendors, whose stories are centered and why that needs to change. The harm behind bride tribes and gendered and appropriative language. The lack of diversity in referral groups, disrupting anti-fat bias, and actions to take to show people we care, even when they’re not in the room.
It’s such a layered episode with so much to dig into and explore, especially if you’re a wedding vendor. I look forward to continuing to partner with @pauseontheplay to find ways to shake shit up in an industry that is too often homogeneous and lacking in community care.
