Philadelphia Elopement at The Woodlands | Johanna + Mike
Johanna and Mike planned an intimate, winter elopement at The Woodlands, a place that has played a special role in their relationship. They go there as a family with Mike’s two daughters to run, picnic, and birdwatch. Johanna gardens part of the grounds at The Woodlands, so we made sure to visit one of those spaces behind the mansion in the cemetery.
Two of the couple’s dearest friends were also in attendance as witnesses. Their self-uniting ceremony took place inside of the historic mansion, with the popping of champagne (and soda) on the back portico to celebrate.
I loved seeing the handmade touches they incorporated into the day, including the DIY flowers, the lace shawl Johanna knit, and the masks and mittens she made. The couple surprised the girls with a necklace for each of them during the ceremony, which was really thoughtful and sweet.
Intimate elopements like Johanna and Mike’s are such an intentional way to celebrate safely while socially distanced and masked. I appreciate my clients for always being mindful of how to care for the community while honoring their love for each other.
