Engagement: Cy + Jessica | Belmont Plateau + Devil’s Pool
Cy and Jessica were so friendly the first time we met, they made me feel like we were old friends. We exchanged introductions at Belmont Plateau as the sun began to rise over Philadelphia’s skyline. Our session ended at Devil’s Pool in Fairmount Park near Wissahickon Creek. It was the perfect secluded spot to finish our nature-filled morning together.
As we were walking on a trail, Cy and Jessica told me about their tradition of picking up heart-shaped rocks when they hike together. Cy recounted his romantic proposal story and explained how he incorporated heart-shaped rocks into the day. It totally made me tear up, and not just because I was six months pregnant. I told them I had never found a heart-shaped rock before. They laughed and said “They find you.”
Just last week, I heard a package rustle through our mail slot. I figured it was our latest Amazon Prime purchase or a boring car insurance packet of some sort. When I saw handwriting on the envelope, I got excited. The return address was from Cy and Jessica and the envelope had a little bulk to it. I smiled because I instantly knew what was inside — a heart-shaped rock of my own. I adore these two and will always treasure their sweet gesture.
In just a few months, Cy and Jessica will be getting married in the Pocono Mountains at one of their favorite places to explore nature together — The Shawnee Inn.
I am so happy they found each other and I’m grateful I was able to document a brief moment of their lives together. Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session.
