I Do: Katherine + Phillip | The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia
The rooftop deck at The Franklin Institute was the perfect spot for Katherine and Phillip’s first look — with views of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, museum district, and Philadelphia skyline. These two were total troopers while we took portraits of them in the bitter cold.
Katherine and Phillip’s ceremony took place at the Fels Planetarium, where the room lit up like the night sky and guests were saturated in moonlight. The couple’s celebrant, Alisa Tongg, crafted a beautiful ceremony that was full of personal details and awesomely nerdy references (ahem, Carl Sagan!). While it was the darkest lighting conditions we’ve worked with during a ceremony, I think (and hope!) we captured the intimate atmosphere and the vast blueness of the room.
After the ceremony, guests mingled through interactive displays and danced in the company of a 20-foot high marble statue of the man himself — Benjamin Franklin.
Thanks to my husband Pete for second shooting (and not judging my awkward reception shimmies).
