Philadelphia Family Photographer | A Fishtown Family Session

Fishtown, family

When you photograph weddings, it’s not uncommon to hear back from past couples about their growing families. I remember when I was initially asked about photographing family sessions years ago. I was sweating at the mere thought of photographing something other than couples. I had ridiculous thoughts running through my head. What if I make the baby cry? What if I drop a swear word in front of the baby? What if I sneeze and break the baby?

All that aside, photographing families in their homes where they’re most comfortable, is now one of my favorite things. It’s not about staging the perfect environment, it’s about capturing a glimpse of everyday life together. The feedings, the diaper changes, the inevitable (adorable) meltdowns, and the joy. There’s so much joy.

This family session took place at a Fishtown home with a four-month-old named Annika, who was as sweet as can be.
