One-Year-Old Isla | Fitler Square, Philadelphia
It seriously boggles my mind how quickly babies grow up. It really does seem like only yesterday I photographed Isla as a three-month-old. I’m so happy to have had the chance to revisit her in celebration of her first birthday. Instead of taking shots of Isla from above her crib, I was chasing her around a park as she explored her fascination with nature by digging into the dirt with her bare hands.
Now Isla is walking, talking, and maneuvering around like a mini grown-up.
I started the session off by visiting her at home as mom and dad got ready to head to a neighborhood park — Fitler Square. Before we left, I took a few shots of Isla in a Burmese outfit gifted from her grandmother. I couldn’t get over how mature she looked sitting on the bench on her own.
Only nine months had passed since I last photographed Isla, and now she has a full set of curly hair, baby teeth that make my heart melt, and teeny tiny TOMS shoes. I’m so lucky to be able to watch these amazing little ones grow up from behind my lens.
Thanks to Whitney and Tim —Isla’s amazing parents — for inviting me to their home again for a first birthday photo session.
