Shannon's Journal

Hi everyone! Sorry to leave you hanging with my last update, but my summer has been super hectic with wedding planning so I haven't had as much time to paint poodles & things as I'd like. Be sure to stop by the Exclamation Gallery on Friday, August 8th at 7 P.M. to see my work in the group show, "Superior Floor System," where all of the art is on the floor! I haven't posted the piece I did specifically for the show on my site yet because I want it to be a surprise (hint: it involves a sassy four-legged creature), so bring some friends and come out for an artsy evening in Philly! Roberta Fallon & Libby Rosof of artblog contributed a piece for the show, so keep an eye out for a review on their blog if you can't make it! Also, brand new items are now available at my Etsy shop, including homemade greeting cards, which are handcrafted with my Gocco machine. For those of you who are local to the Philadelphia area, stop by the Mew Gallery or Bohema Artisan and Vintage Boutique (6152 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19128) to browse my prints, refinished furniture, home accessories, buttons and magnets in person.

Thanks for taking the time to visit!

xoxo,

Shannon

Join me for the pre-opening of Bohema Artisan and Vintage Boutique on Friday, May 9th from 6-10pm. The store's official opening will be on Saturday, May 10th, so be sure to check it out if you're in the area! The location of the boutique is 6152 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19128 (aka a convenient three minutes away from my apartment). There will be hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and guests can mingle with the artists featured in the shop. The boutique is a mixture of old and new, with quality vintage as well as new merchandise, mainly hand-made by local artists and marketed to women. I'll be there, so don't hesitate to stop by and indulge in free cheese cubes with me! Some of the items I'll have available for sale include a revamped gossip bench, vintage trays, a clock and prints. Expect coasters, pocket mirrors and more functional art to be available both at Bohema and in my Etsy shop by the end of the month!

Thanks for reading,

xoxo,

Shannon

Hello lovers,

New artwork has been added to the gallery, including a piece inspired by Gene Hackman's line, "You wanna talk some jive? I'll talk some jive. I'll talk some jive like you've never heard!" in The Royal Tenenbaums. Additional prints have also been posted at my Etsy shop, so be sure to check it out and put those tax refunds to good use *wink wink nudge nudge*!

Thanks for your support!

Shannon

Dear fellow illustration fanatics,

Please forgive me for neglecting you in the chilly winter months. Spring is here and there is an abundance of exciting news to share. In late May or June I will be exhibiting a tile (1 foot x 1 foot) with my artwork at the floor of the Exclamation Gallery, for their show, "Superior Floor System." Soon I will be announcing which Manayunk boutique will be housing my home decor, fine art and prints in the upcoming months. Mirrors, furniture, clocks, picture frames, vintage trays and other home items will soon be available to purchase in store and in my my Etsy shop! Please come back soon for new artwork and prints involving both feathered and four-legged friends.

As always, thanks for visiting!

New art has been added to the store! For those of you on the West Coast (where I'm convinced Billy Joel started the fire), one of my illustrations will be on display in Edith Abeyta's installation Cry me a River, at her upcoming show, Salty: Three Tales of Sorrow, which will be opening on November 19th at El Camino College Art Gallery. My work will be in the company of some of my art idols, including: Martha Rich, Carol Es, Saelee Oh, Susie Oh and Lisa Solomon. Hi folks.

Sorry about the lack of updates. I promise I’ll be better over the summer. But I wanted to let you know that I have recently been invited to be involved in a new Fred Roses project (www.worldwidefred.com). I’m going to be designing a pack of four buttons that will feature my crazy ass illustrations. The finished buttons will be distributed by Fred Roses and available for purchase in a wide range of retailers like MOMA, Urban Outfitters, Newbury Comics, Virgin Records, Mxyplyzyk, Sam Flax, perpetualkid.com and uncommongoods.com. Fred also has distributors in Europe, UK, Australia and Japan (hence the "worldwide")... needless to say I’m pretty darn giddy.

Also, If anyone is interested in reading my articles on artists in the Philadelphia area, visit the arts section of LifeStyle Magazine’s website at www.lsmagonline.com.

Oh, and today is my birthday so eat a cupcake for me!

11.17.2006

I'll be showing several pieces at Falling Cow Gallery in The Variety Show that will be on display from December 2nd until December 30th.

The holiday party and reception is on Saturday, December 2nd from 6-8 P.M. Sadly I won't be able to make it because I have to attend a wedding and dance like a fool, so save me some hors d'oeuvres!

Check out www.fallingcow.org for more info!

11.03.2006

On December 9th at 7pm I will be exhibiting artwork at The Well (Bucks County, PA), where there will be plenty of music, art, coffee and celebrating!

Check out their site at www.thewellpa.com/arts for updated information.

I also have some shows in the works with a few other galleries, so as soon as I get the details I'll be sure to post about it. Expect more artwork soon, I've been a busy little beaver!

06.27.2006

IllustrationMundo.com has been kind enough to select me for Editor's Choice, so check out my artwork on the front page and have fun browsing tons of talented artists and illustrators!

04.21.2006

I recently came up with a project idea that would hopefully be displayed in a gallery this summer or fall.

I'm going to take 5x5 inch canvases and on each one of them I'll color (with marker) a face of a missing child. These square illustrations would stretch out 12 feet wide by 4 feet long, which means there would be around 200 canvases total. At first glance they are going to be really bright, youthful naive drawings of children. When you look at the title it will say "Missing Children." My goal is to get 60 of them done within the week, so more pictures will be coming soon.

This is an example of how they will look, style-wise.

Also, I have put together packets of buttons (6 in each package) with my illustrations that will be on sale soon, so keep an eye out for those!

I did nothing today.
